According to reports, BlackRock's Chief Executive Larry Fink projected digital assets could become $500 million annual revenue generators for the firm. The company's crypto ETF business, particularly the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT), has already shown significant growth, generating $47.5 million in net sponsor-fee revenue in 2024 and $174.6 million in 2025. IBIT surpassed $100 billion in assets at an unprecedented pace, becoming BlackRock's most profitable fund by sponsor fees per dollar of assets. The iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA) and iShares Staked Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHB) also contributed, bringing the total cumulative net sponsor-fee revenue for BlackRock's crypto ETFs to approximately $241.4 million across their first two calendar years. The firm's crypto ETF complex currently holds about $61.6 billion in assets, with annualized revenue at $153.7 million, indicating a potential need for $200 billion in assets to hit the $500 million annual revenue target.
